FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Please review the FAQ before contacting us regarding the events.  We receive an abundance of emails, and do our best to reply promptly.

OPEN MICS

General

  • How do I sign up?  Email info@mattzaddy.com to sign up
  • Should I sign up in advance - YES! Our events have a high demand in the community, and most 
  • What am I able to perform?  Music, Spoken Word, Comedy.  If you have another idea that would work in a pub or stage setting, we are open to discussing.
  • How long can I perform?
    • Comedy/spoken word - 5 min.
    • Solo/duo - 10 min. including set up - 2 songs max
    • Trio/Band - 15 min. including set up - 3 songs max
  • Is there a house band? NO, we do not presently have a house band at any of our events.  Our host is happy to perform with you if they know the tune, and we frequently have musicians in the audience that are happy to hop up.
  • When Should I arrive for my performance?  No later than 20 min. prior to your performance.  We HIGHLY encourage performers to come early and stay as long as you can to support the other performers.
  • Do I need to purchase food and/or drink to participate?  Yes and No.  There is no requirement to make a purchase to perform, but these venues must make money from the attendees, or the open mics are not sustainable in the long run.   Please support the venues that support us.
  • Code of Conduct
    • Most open mic events we host have an all ages performance.  We request that you keep explicit language to the bare minimum during the all ages segment of the event.
    • BE RESPECTFUL TO THE VNUE, HOSTS, PERFORMERS AND ATTENDEES.
    • We are strict with the type of content I have from performers. What you perform reflects directly on us as a host and on the venue.
      - Absolutely NO misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, hatespeech, bigotry, etc.
      - if you are unsure of your material, please run it by me first
      - anyone who violates the rules will be kicked out of the event and may be barred from future performances

Cineplex Junxion Open Mic

  • When does the event occur?  1st Saturday of every month. We, occasionally, change the date based the availability of the venue and our staff's schedule
  • What time does the event start/end? 1:00pm-4:30pm
  • All Ages?  YES! This event is all ages from start to finish.
  • What is the event set up?  Acoustic set up, including: PA system, 3 mic stands/mics, 1 stage monitor, right & left handed acoustic guitar, electric piano.  No amps or drums
  • Is there anything we can't do at this open mic? This event space is not equipped for full bands with amps and drums, it cannot sustain the sound.  Most acts sings with tracks, play an acoustic instrument, or a combination thereof.

Cuchulainn's Irish Pub

  • When does the event occur?  2nd & last Tuesday of Each Month
  • What time does the event start/end? 7:30pm-11:30pm
  • All Ages?  YES! This event is all ages from start to finish.
  • What is the event set up?  Full band set up, including: PA system, 3 mic stands/mics, 1 stage monitor, right & left handed acoustic guitar, guitar amp, bass amp
  • Is there anything we can't do at this open mic? This event can handful most acts - full bands, solos/duos, comics, poets, etc.  If you have concerns, contact us and we will let you know if we can accommodate your act.
